Mr. Cohen’s fascinating life records and commemorates his own personal story, and at the same time tells the story of many. The story entails the city Chernowitz, Bucharest the capital of Romania; the communist party; marriage and immediate separation from his new wife; Soviet Red Army recruitment; Soviet prison imprisonment; endless journeys from Romania in the west through Siberia all the way to the Sea of Japan in the east; the ending of the Second World War; family reunion against all odds; journey to Israel Aliyah; and finally – coping with the difficulties of ‘Klita’ (immigrant absorption) in Israel while exhibiting resourcefulness and entrepreneurial skills establishing a printing press which slowly grew to be one of the largest in Tel Aviv. Many of these life events are colorfully depicted in his autobiographic book “My Life”.

Survival in Europe during the Second World War, the journey and Aliyah to the land of Israel, the personal as well as the collective hope and revival – all make for a substantial part in the narrative of Mr. Cohen’s life, thus taking form in his professional and artistic work.

From the early days of the press, as he was arranging printing compositions each letter and by hand, carefully examining every comma and spacing, Mr. Cohen was renowned in the business to be a true artist. In the years to follow, Mr. Cohen continued to further this connection between the printing craftsmanship and his artistic approach.  Only later in his adult life, after becoming a grandfather, Mr. Cohen began to draw in his leisure.
